the business of faith project aims to help businesses and individuals in the City of London to engage with issues of religion and belief in the workplace and in commercial life.

Religion and the Law

The Employment Equality (Religion or Belief) Regulations came into force in December 2003. These regulations cover employment and vocational training, and prohibit discrimination against workers because of their religious or similar belief.

The Business of Faith training

the business of faith offers regular training courses on religion and belief in the workplace. Courses will be available for City-based businesses, HR and diversity managers, employee groups and networks, and City-based religious organisations.

The next training session will be held on Thursday, 19 January 2005, from 15:00 to 17:30. A limited number of spaces are still available.

RECENT DEVELOPMENTS

the business of faith has produced a set of Ramadan briefing notes for managers, addressing workplace issues around the Muslim period of fasting which continues until 2 November 2005. The briefing notes offer practical advice on accommodation of prayer and fasting times, the significance and physical demands of fasting, and links to online resources.
